- Project "Feasibility study of Hybridization for a SMART car for two"
2014 - 2014Optimizing the operating parameters of the engine in a NEDC using Engine test bench.
By taking data from coast down and engine bench tests, the team was able to look into the feasibility for hybridizing a Fortwo Smart car. Modeling and simulation was carried out using Simulink in order to simulate the Fortwo on an NEDC driving cycle with and without hybridization components.
I was indulged in the Engine Test Bench in order in order to find out the Optimal Operating points of the Engine in order to have the Engine map and to determine the Hybrid control strategy. Other tests were also conducted in order to determine Idle fuel consumption, Cold start fuel consumption, Friction losses due to the flywheel etc.,
Brakes India Limited
- Certified as Internal Quality Auditor for ISO/TS 16949:2009
2012 - 2012To comply with the ISO/TS 16949:2009 Standards and to meet out the regulations of Automotive Industries, the role of an Internal Quality Auditor is to ensure and monitor continuously all the working parameters are inline with the standard requirements.
Brakes India Limited
- Process Planning and Methods Engineer
2011 - 2012New Product development for brake pistons for passenger cars and heavy vehicles.
I took my Automobile Engineering career to the next level by working for a well promising “Brake Manufacturing Company, M/s Freins Metal Ltd (A Unit Of M/s Brakes India Ltd, TVS group of companies) as a Process Planning and Methods Engineer (PP&M)”.
I have handled projects on new product development for brake pistons technically labeled as Plungers. The main objective was to gauge whether the product is feasible for further manufacturing or not, if the product does not meets the requirement, then consecutive steps are to be taken for firm its feasibility. The most challenging task was the “Reverse Engineering” of the plungers, meeting out the precise TS and TD specifications of customers which plays a vital role in the Emission norms of the vehicle, practically measuring the critical dimensions, converting the hand sketches to 3D drawings and incorporating the necessary modifications to the design to make sure that they adhere to the customer’s requirement. I was also certified as an “Internal Quality Auditor” on Quality Management Systems (ISO/TS 16949:9000).
Apart from my technical stuff I also indulged myself in establishing the Skill Development Centre (SDC) in my Unit in order to provide Basic skills and On the Job Training (OJT) to the trainees. I have also showed up Seminars on various cutting tools and inserts manufacturers like SANDVICK, ISCAR on behalf of the company. These experiences honed and enhanced my skills even in manufacturing sector.
2011 - 2011Modification in the design of the flywheel through the installation of pouches in order to reduce the weight of the flywheel that contributes for the increase in performance of the engine and also the fuel economy.
In the final semester I undertook a project, “Design Modification of Diesel Engine Flywheel” in a Leading Automotive company “M/s Greaves Cotton Limited” at Ranipet in Tamil Nadu, India. The objective was based on Value engineering. Previously, the design of the flywheel was too complicated with increased cost, more fuel consumption and also affected the efficiency on air cooling of the engine. It was my intention that all measures should result in drastic improvement of flywheel’s efficiency, after my project is over, all the factors influencing the flywheel design should contribute for the betterment of it in which I succeeded eventually. The project mainly consisted of performance analysis of various parameters, without compromising the stability and performance, interpreting these results into drawings and models through Auto CAD, Pro-E and CATIA. This project has given me a great exposure in the field of design and the method to elucidate the results through drafting.
