1997 - 2005When I left the company I was simultaneously Exec. Int Vicepresident plus CEO South Europe and Latin America plus MD for Spain. Member of the Board in Metro France and Metro Portugal. Did a deep change in the business model for start ups reducing the total funding needs by 60% and bringing the break even at 14 months from start. My region represented 40% of the total income of the company and was the most profitable region around. Metro International Chairman requested a full plan to reorganize the whole company which was presented to him and the major private shareholder by the end of 2004. The plan was assuming the company would be in break even in 36 months and start to pay dividends for the first time in the whole history.
