I work on a new project to develop the use and behavioral assessment of transgenic rats for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis disease.
I do behavioral tests on these transgenic rats :
- Automated footprint test with CatWalk XT automated gait analysis system
- Rotarod, an automated standard tool for the assessment of sensorimotor coordination, and learning ability
- IRWIN test to evaluate the health and the evolution of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) disease on these transgenic rats : general condition, grip strength, test of the wire... It is a way to monitor the well-being of animals. These regular examinations are done to detect symptom onset and follow the disease progression.
I also do drug administration (p.o., s.c., i.p.), BBB, spinal cord extraction, and sampling.
