  • Comexea - Attaché de Presse International

2013 - maintenant Working with French PR company Comexea to develop the international side of the business. The role involves establishing contacts and building relationships with English speaking press in Europe, Asia and America, and working on new business proposals. Responsibilities also include creating strategies to target the client’s message, and writing and translating press releases.
  • The American University of Paris - Guest Lecturer

2012 - 2012 Explored how the ideals of journalism - to expose injustice and provoke change - are pitted against a saturated mass media market that is motivated not by good intentions but by a healthy bottom line. Also focused on the vital role of women’s organisations and NGOs to provide a public voice for victims of sexual abuse in conflict zones where there is little media coverage. As a direct result of my lecture, the course leader was inspired to sponsor an orphan in Africa.
  • Women for Rwanda - Consultant Advisor

2012 - maintenant Inspired my students to create an internet based charity, Women for Rwanda, as a result of a lecture series I designed and ran. The charity’s goal is to build sustainable economic futures in Rwanda. My role is to highlight the issue of sexual violence in armed conflict through traditional and social media; to create tactical alliances with bodies that can help push forward the charity’s objectives; and to mobilise more student bodies via the lecture series.
  • Hult International Business School - Adjunct Professor

London 2011 - 2011 Invited to design and lead a new course, ‘The Politics of Change’. This involved the launch of a campaign proposal to deliver positive changes in the lives of victims of sexual abuse in armed conflict. Formed tactical relationships with British NGO Aegis Trust, whose CEO, Dr James Smith, attended the final campaign pitch, and who continues to support the online charity that has subsequently been created. The success of this project demonstrates my negotiation and communication skills, and my ability to deliver a message while motivating 28 people to understand and act with passion on what they have learnt.
  • Hult International Business School - Guest Lecturer

London 2011 - 2011 Requested to give a guest lecture on ‘The Impact of Gender in Conflict’, looking at examples such as the Congo, Bosnia, Rwanda and the Sudan.
  • BBC - Freelance Writer

Paris 2010 - 2011 After a research trip to Rwanda, the BBC commissioned me to write about children born of rape in Africa. The BBC editor subsequently recommended me to the editor of a web-based newspaper in Uganda to write about political and social issues.
  • IPC Media - Chief Feature Writer

BREST 2004 - 2008 Responsible for writing several articles a week, including the lead feature, as well as sourcing and pitching ideas. Due to the topics covered, I had to be resourceful and sensitive in finding and holding interviews with, for example, Russian girls forced into sex trafficking in London; and the parties in a legal battle over frozen embryos in the European Court of Human Rights.
  • B International - Contributing Editor

2001 - 2004 As a result of my successful working relationship with my former Hong Kong iMail editor, she invited me to work with her when she moved onto the city’s premier women’s title, where I covered health and social issues on a national and international level.
  • The Hong Kong iMail - Chief Feature Writer

2000 - 2001 Invited to join the launch team of a daily newspaper as the head writer of a team of six. Was responsible for shaping the direction of the new features section and building relationships within Hong Kong’s PR and media circles. One of my most important achievements was maintaining press freedoms despite the rise of self censorship, and publishing articles such as the suppression of the Falun Gong movement after China had branded it an evil cult.
  • Time Inc - Writer/Editor

    1999 - 2000 Time (Asia)/Asiaweek
Edited international news on Time magazine, and worked as a writer for its sister title Asiaweek, which focused specifically on Asian news and business.
Emphasis Media (now Publicitas Publishing Asia)
Editor of two in-flight magazines for Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair, managing a team of eight writers and three art editors and a relationship with the clients. Overall responsibility for the annual budget, magazine content, commissioning and scheduling. Subsequently headhunted to work on the launch of a daily newspaper, The Hong Kong iMail.

  • Asian Business - Staff Writer/Reporter

1998 - 1999 Travelled extensively throughout Asia, delivering in-depth reports on the region’s topical business and political news.
  • The Times; The Guardian; IPC Media - Senior Sub-editor
