1974 - maintenant40 years experience as a journalist, working, i.a., for the BBC, The Economist, The Observer, The Bulletin, European Voice, and contributing to leading newspapers in USA, Japan, India, South Africe, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean. Author or part-author of some 20 books, including Elections in Britiian, The Economist Guide to the European Union and a trilogy of books on the 51 Prime Ministers of Britain from Walpole to Blair. Currently writing a dual biography of Disraeli and Gladstone. Was Laboukr MP for Romford 1970-74, and Parliamentary Private Secretary to Anthony Crosland. Taught at Essex University and the Free University of Brussels (ULB).
