2011 - maintenantSole boarding agent of the largest ship agency and stevedoring company in the Fortaleza area, responsible for the management of all documentational, practical and technical requirements of vessels and their cargo during calls at the ports of Mucuripe and Pecém. My role, as both operational and commercial manager of offices across the northeast of Brazil, entails quoting for different services, acting as the local contact for clients abroad, and advising on the feasibility / cost of logistics for different projects.
At Mucuripe port, extensive experience has been gained with project cargo, particularly windmill components. As exclusive representatives and port operators of Vestas, Suzlon, and GE, responsibilities include the discharge of ca. two vessels per month carrying blades, nacelles or tower sections and further handling for delivery to clients. More recently, a contract worth over BRL 1,000,000 was won by myself to carry out port operations for Siemens Wind.
The company also maintains exclusive deals with various project cargo carriers, including BBC Chartering and Logistics, Intermarine, Spliethoff's Bevrachtingskantoor and SE Shipping, through which we have the opportunity to handle the cargo of other windmill companies on a liner-out basis, including components belonging to Alstom, Gamesa and Impsa.
At Pecém, more focus is given to bulk cargo, including clinker, slag and cement for discharge, and iron ore for loading. Consultancy has been provided for start-ups intending to export iron ore, bauxite and soy-meal from South American ports.
