    Paris maintenant As a Global Markets (GM) France EXCO member, reporting to the Head of GM France, the COO is responsible for the operational effectiveness of the Front office (250 people), and for the management of a team of product business managers. Responsibilities include:

    Operational risk and internal control framework :
    •Operational losses, risk review and active participation in defining/challenging/achieving action plans
    •Member of the Operational Risk Management committees (representing Front Office)
    •Business recovery and contingency plans
    •Audit and Compliance liaison

    Interface with key support functions :
    •Ensure business engagement with support functions (around 700 people)
    •Sponsor and facilitate initiatives and projects from support functions in order to improve the quality of service, and optimize the costs effectiveness
    •Manage all potential issues impacting the Front Office

    Business development :
    •New product due diligence process ownership
    •Active role in sponsoring, facilitating and in some cases driving business initiatives
    •Project manager for specific initiatives cross asset class or related to one particular product

    Planning and costs control :
    •Active management of Balance Sheet optimization initiatives. Member of the Capital Management Committee
    •Ownership, oversight and management of the regional and product operating plan (at a PBT level)
    •Monitor performance of business and ensure business heads are provided with adequate MI reports (costs, revenues, capital profitability, etc...)
    Management of the HSBC bank Plc, Paris Branch :
    •Member of the HSBC Bank Plc, Paris Branch Executive Committee and of the “Strategic board”
    •Active supervision of an operational team in charge of the administration of the Branch
    •Close monitoring of a significant loan portfolio (corporate large exposure)
    •Management of HR and social aspects related to staff
    •Business development

    Administration :
    •Marketing and events
    •Travel team
    •Brokers relationship and administration
    •Front office logistics

    Key achievements
    *MIFID implementation for Global Markets France
    *Implementation of budgetary control of marketing, travel, entertainment and market data costs.
    *Set up of a strong internal control framework within Global Markets France, covering credit, market risk, compliance, legal and operational risks
    *Build up of a solid and joined up Business Management team, covering sales, origination, equities and rates businesses, as well as all cross assets issues
