John DeCuir, Jr. has designed feature films, films for television and themed exhibitions in Italy, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Japan, Canada, and throughout the United States. He began his film design apprenticeship working on award winning films including: THE KING & I, SOUTH PACIFIC, CLEOPATRA, AGONY & THE ECSTACY, and TAMING OF THE SHREW. Following this he moved on to Disney as Project Designer, on the master plan for: WALT DISNEY'S WORLD SHOWCASE and EPCOT. John also assisted Disney in their theme park film attractions: JIM HENSON’S 3-D MUPPET MOVIE, ALIEN ENCOUNTER and EPCOT’S ENERGY PAVILION. He returned to film art direction on the film GHOSTBUSTERS, and later as the Production Designer for TOP GUN, TURNER & HOOCH and SISTER ACT II. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree (cum laude) from the University of Southern California and completed two years of graduate work at USC's Institute of Building Research & Technology. He currently continues his film design work and lectures at UCLA, USC, The American Film Institute, Columbia College Chicago and Asbury University. In addition, he is working on his film design internet class, and two books, THE ARCHITECTURE OF ILLUSION and TRAVELS WITH DAD.
