  • FindItByMe Technologies, Inc. - DEVELOPER

2007 - 2009 Created search engine to locate businesses, individuals or items based on any number of attributes, but the primary attributes tended heavily towards using GIS coordinates and minimizing routes between objects.
Utilized GPS camera to photograph storefronts of businesses in surrounding communities, finally amassing a database of 12,000 business locations with accurate GPS coordinates to within three feet for each location. The locations were integrated with a GIS database built by downloading publicly available satellite imagery along with vector based data obtained from the Census Bureau, state agencies and other branches of the Federal Government (NIST, NCOAA, USGS, NPS among others). Used a commercially available library to do GIS routing and distance calculations.
Designed search engine to be multilingual from the core (created original machine translation algorithms) to support queries of all kinds in 31 different languages (although it can be extended to any number).
Front end can be formatted in any language or output; all templating, positioning and user interface elements are database driven.
Developed the front end in VB.NET with an early version of Gizmox's Windows/Web development environment called VisualWebGUI, which allows a developer to create cross-platform applications that run on the web and intranet but share a common code base.
All search, GIS, linguistic and business layer logic written in MS SQL 2008 TSQL. Database has over 200 tables, around 1,200 stored procedures and close to 100 functions coded in TSQL.
All output from the search engine is rendered in XML for universal consumption via web page or web service.
  • Cygnex Services, Inc. - DEVELOPER

2003 - 2007 Developed a new Win32 based produce wholesaler inventory and sales system for the produce wholesale industry.
Technology used was based on Visual Basic.NET and MS SQL 2005.
Monitored environmental controls in warehouse coolers (local and remote) as well as tracking containers of produce arriving from around the world. Once received, inventory was maintained as well as detailed information about point of origin, time and place of harvest, etc.
Interfaced system with sophisticated sizing equipment used to process local grower's crops, and allowed the operator to determine the sizes, varieties and weights of all fruit sized for that grower on a historical basis. Growers were paid from these reports and were furnished the packout breakdowns produced by the system for their recordkeeping.
Provided sales staff a solution that allowed them to quickly place orders. Most frequent customers ordered the same varieties and sizes, the only difference being quantity placed. I created a configurator that allowed sales staff to place orders in two mouse clicks, allowing them to return an order number to a customer immediately. The order was then confirmed back to them using SMS, email or fax.
Provided warehouse staff time saving measures, they could settle bills of lading with the same two mouse clicks or a bar code scanner. In addition, truck drivers used an electronic signature pad I programmed; their signature was used to print out copies of all shipping documents without requiring the use of multi-part forms. Bar code scanner was used to properly reduce inventory of specific pallets (whole and broken). This improved workflow significantly when the dock became busy and trucks was queued up to load shipments.
The system played a key role in their expansion into new markets.
