Over the last 3 years I have been building a career as a GIS specialist. I began to study GIS on my own 6 years ago while pursuing my bachelor studies in Biology, then decided to work on a double major in Biology and Geography in order to get further education in GIS.
After completing my Bachelor's degree I completed my graduate studies specializing in GIS and remote sensing as well as Ecology education.
My goal is to stay as versatile as possible in order to provide the best service possible to my employers.
During my last contract at IARC (international arctic research center), specifically at SNAP (Scenario Network for Alaska and Arctic planning), I had the opportunity to work with many different aspects of GIS and remote sensing. I have been introduced to basic programming related to GIS (python, SQL) as well as advanced remote sensing (orthophotography produced by photogrammetry and thermal imagery analysis). In my free time I like to stay updated on new technology and methods related to both GIS and remote sensing.
I like to travel and learn new skills, currently in Canada, I'm looking for a position which would allow me to develop my knowledge in remote sensing and GIS analysis. I'm particularly interested in getting more familiar with R and python, which I began to work with during my last contract.
One of my main hobby is backpacking, I have accomplished two 1400 km journeys, the first in European Lapland and the second one in the Canadian Rockies. I applied my GIS skills to those project in order to make them successful.
