I love paintings and have spent 50 years trying to understand the creative spirit that is evident in every culture and every person who attempts to make or build art.
I know a little about reading paintings in the museums. I distrust art historians certainty in their interpretation of works of art.
In my professional life I had a brilliant time working with young students of 16 to 19 plus years. To introduce youngsters to the great museums of Liverpool, London, Paris and beyond was a joy. These kids were not privileged. They came from some socially deprived or ordinary areas of Liverpool and Wigan Laughter was never a moment away and in contrast total silence and concentration. They still contact me via T'internet.Some are now quite famous in broadcasting and sport.
I enjoy the absurd and intensely dislike pompous persons who think they know how others should think and behave.
Liverpool, as much as Provence is always in my heart. I was a student in the college of art in the 60's just wonderful creativity in very aspect of culture and the arts.
My brother Jude, yes the song was about him. He said 'I would rather be rich and unhappy than poor and unhappy' Fortunately, I am neither.
