ALGER
I am a member of "Cytokines and NOSynthases" research group. The aim of our project is about the implication of cytokines and nitric oxide in immunological responses in infectious diseases: hydatidosis. This parasitosis constitutes a serious public health problem in various parts of the world, particularly in Algeria. Furthermore, we wished to clarify the parasite’s strategies evasion. These studies will make it easier to understand why the parasite is not eliminated although specific cellular and humoral immune responses are present. More recently, we have highlighted an evident role of IFN-gamma in protoscoleces (larval form of parasite) killing by iNOS induction. Our findings provide useful tools for development of therapeutic strategies.
