A person representing the owner’s interests at the project site during the construction phase;
As owner’s inspector, the Resident Engineer, is the team leader of several Work Inspectors, they remain full time in Site,
• Ensure Contractor’s compliance with the Contract Documents.
• Inspect all workmanship and materials.
• Coordinate the supply of vertical and horizontal controls for the Contractor
• Make layout checks on lines and grades.
• Maintain all file records on designated forms. These records include all reports on work force, equipment, progress, safety, etc.
• Review and approve the Contractor’s shop drawings.
• Locate execute, and interpret all soils and materials testing according to the provisions in the Contract Documents and Standard Specifications.
• The Resident Engineer is responsible for Contract enforcement and is not to relieve the Contractor of their responsibilities without client authorization.
• Check and certify progress payments to the Contractor.
• Check personnel, equipment, and material costs for all Variation Orders and change orders required under the terms of the Contract.
