    L'Observatoire ESSpace (2012-2015) est un programme européen de coopération transfrontalière pour le développement de l'économie sociale qui regroupait les régions de Franche Comté et Rhône Alpes (France) et les Cantons de Genève et de Vaud (Suisse).

  • Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC) - Geneva, Switzerland - Coordinator

    2011 - 2013 • Technically assisted members and the United Nations (UN), in planning and implementing activities of the UN International Year of Cooperatives (IYC), 2012. COPAC was the Coordinating Committee of the IYC, getting together the UN, International Labour Office (ILO), UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), and the World Farmers’ Organization (WFO).
    • Advocated members by elaborating and disseminating an advocacy brief on the contributions of cooperatives to sustainable development. The lobbying process led to the recognition of cooperative’s contributions in the UN Rio+20 Outcome Document.
    • Facilitated the expansion of COPAC membership with the inclusion of WFO.
    • Technically assisted FAO in the organization of a Joint FAO-COPAC Side Event for the 2012 Committee on World Food Security (CFS), as well as the UN for an IYC Global Forum in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
    • Identified and facilitated common fields of cooperation (e.g. policy, lobbying, advocacy and projects) in COPAC members’ activities for the development and promotion of cooperative businesses.
    • Managed and assisted the Committee in convening and coordinating the work of the IYC Advisory Committee, constituted of cooperative CEOs, academics and diplomats.
    • Undertook a global mapping of online cooperative education programmes at the university level, for the University of Helsinki, Ruralia Institute (Finland).
    • Engaged in research and identified cooperatives trends; drafted communication materials and technical reports; convened COPAC meetings and teleconferences; managing COPAC finances and archives; and, maintained and developed the COPAC website.
  • Organisation Internationale du Travail (OIT) - Project Officer

    2010 - 2011 • Produced, upon request from ILO Constituents a Discussion Paper on Social Economy Enterprises and Organizations to clarify the concept of the social economy and to strengthen the Office’s work on this topic.
    • Co-authored The Reader 2010 for the first edition of the ILO Social and Solidarity Economy Academy (25-29 October 2010, Turin – Italy).
    • Served as one of the principal facilitators for the above-mentioned ILO sponsored Academy.
  • Organisation Internationale du Travail (OIT) - Consultant in cooperative and social economy

    2010 - 2011 June – July 2011:
    Co-authored The Reader 2011 for the Second edition of the ILO Academy on the Social and Solidarity Economy (24-28 October 2011, Montreal – Canada).

    March 2011:
    Authored and presented one of the five sub-themes working paper on Labour and Employment of the International Forum on the Social and Solidarity Economy – FIESS (17-20 October 2011, Montreal – Canada).

    May 2010:
    • Liaised with executives and experts during the 28th International Congress of the International Centre of Research and Information on the Public, Social and Cooperative Economy (Berlin, 16-19 May 2010).
    • Recommended follow-up actions to the ILO social economy task force for implementing its work plan.

    February – March 2010:
    • Assisted in the organization of a three-day workshop at the ILO ITC, aimed at coordinating follow-up activities to the ILO Regional Conference on Social Economy.
    • Contributed to the workshop as a main resource person, assisting the ILO social economy task force to:
    - Implement the Plan of Action adopted at the conference.
    - Design an ILO Regional programme on social economy for Africa.
    - Design a Capacity Building programme on social economy.
    • Developed the workshop Report which set-up future activities of the ILO task force.
  • Organisation Internationale du Travail (OIT) - Project Officer

    2009 - 2009 • Established the ILO social economy task force, bringing together ILO technical specialists, senior managers and ILO constituents.
    • Supported and received ILO Regional Director’s recognition for the technical preparation of an international conference titled “The Social Economy – Africa’s Response to the Global Crisis” (Johannesburg, South Africa, 19-21 October 2009).
    • Drafted the Plan of Action eventually adopted by conference participants, including ILO constituents in Africa.
    • Coordinated units within ILO headquarters (HQ), in formulating the content of the conference and coordinated ILO HQ activities related to the conference.
    • Conducted a literature review on the concept of social economy, which led to the formalization and definition of a conceptual framework for the social economy in Africa; and drafted the terms of reference for the conference background paper.

    2008 - 2009 • Assisted the National Project Coordinator (NPC) in benchmarking:
    - The current policies and legal environment of cooperative enterprises.
    - The implementation of the ILO Recommendation 193 on the Promotion of cooperatives.
    • Conducted a survey on current cooperative enterprise development support programmes in South Africa.
    • Produced a report outlining the extent of ILO support to the development of cooperative enterprises in South Africa.
    • Prepared promotional material for the project (e-newsletters and brochures).
    • Contributed to a research paper titled An audit for cooperative structural features for an International conference in Pretoria jointly organized by the German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation (DGRV) and the ILO COOPAFRICA programme.
  • Organisation Internationale du Travail (OIT) - Reporting and ICT Officer

    2008 - 2008 • Responsible for designing, launching and maintaining the structure and the content of the ILO COOPAFRICA website (www.ilo.org/coopafrica), and supervised the activities of an IT consultant based in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
    • Participated as a main resource person in a three-day Sub-Regional Workshop on Cooperatives and Child Labour in Moshi (Tanzania) - the workshop brought together cooperatives stakeholders from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
    • Produced a follow-up questionnaire looking into the delivery of commitments that participants had made during the workshop.

    2007 - 2008 • Participated in the elaboration of a Guideline Manual on cooperative enterprise auditing.
    • Contributed in writing the ILO IPEC - EMP/COOP - ICA joint publication: Cooperating out of Child Labour - Harnessing the untapped potential of cooperatives and the cooperative movement to combat child labour.
    • Conducted economic research on the topic “How to formalize through cooperatives?” for the Interregional Symposium on the Informal Economy entitled “Enabling transition to formalization” at ILO HQ (November 2007).
