    • Designed and executed a research program ensuing ANL’s nomination as the United States Department of Energy lead laboratory for advanced vehicle technology evaluation

    • Managed a U.S. Department of Energy funded research project providing directions to automotive industry to focus research on areas that maximize the potential for fuel efficiency improvements and emissions reduction

    • Designed an advanced testing methodology combining computer models and hardware components recognizing by the U.S. Department of Energy and the automotive industry

    • Developed pilot integrated process using simulation and test data that was proliferated throughout the division

    • Led cross-functional team of 10 (including 2 engineering direct reports) and mentored two PhD students

    • Demonstrated the potential of hydrogen as a fuel for internal combustion engines in hybrid-electric vehicles

    • Demonstrated the potential of diesel engines for hybrid electric vehicles in fuel economy and emissions

    • Presented results of research project to Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman in May 2005, to Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) David Garman in March 2003, and to Deputy Assistant Secretary EERE in November 2002
