Third assistand engineer (4eme mecanicien)
Reporting to Chief Engineer/First Assistant, assists with the proper operation, maintenance and repair of the main propulsion and ship's auxiliaries engines.
Able to work with minimum supervision.
Checks cleaning, lubrication, and routine maintenance of all machinery and electrical equipment. Maintains HVAC systems, clean engine room bilges, strainers in lubricating system, and all water pumps, tanks, and connected systems. Checks refrigeration plant, and ensures safety devices are in proper working condition.
Assists, while in port, with supervision, maintenance, and repair of engine room equipment and spaces, and in loading freshwater and bunkers. Keeps a log of all watch operations and conditions, including unusual occurrences and emergency signals.
Stands engine room watch, and ensures watches are stood properly and orders carried out.
Performs other duties as required.
Chief electrician
Reporting to Chief Engineer, assists with the proper operation, maintenance and repair of the main propulsion and ship's auxiliaries engines.
Able to work with minimum supervision.
Maintains and repairs refrigeration plant (and ensures safety devices are in proper working condition), HVAC systems, electrical power generating and distribution systems; SCR drives and associated solid state controls, voltage regulators, engine governors, and equipment; machinery monitoring and remote control systems; power, control, and display systems of deck ,DC propulsion generators, motors, and control circuits. Assists with repairs in port.
Performs routine checks of electrical equipment including Daily Check of lighting, indicators, motor controllers, and wiring, Monthly Checks of test batteries of auxiliary and emergency generators, general alarm, and bridge lighting; mast and sound-powered telephone inspection and maintenance. Quarterly check of insulation test readings; maintains all moving parts of windlass, winches, and related deck machinery; and inspects secure connections. Yearly check of main and emergency boards, and masthead lights
Supervises and maintains operation of all shipboard communications systems, including GMDSS radio, Inmarsat "A," "B" and "C" telephone PABX Equipment, intercom systems and VHF Radio equipment.
Is responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all shipboard navigation electronic systems, including GPS, navigation computers, autopilots, DP systems, Gyro, radar, echo sounders, wind indicators and speed logs,winch monitoring systems, entertainment systems, ship management computer systems and other networked computers
Performs day work and other duties as required.
