Sonatrach
- Petroleum geologist
1984 - 2014
I joined the Algerian state oil company Sonatrach-Exploration Division in 1984. Since I worked with affiliated structures of Exploration Division:
- 1984–1987: Wellsite Geologist Supervisor: I worked within a multidisciplinary team to identify drilling locations, prepare well plans, and follow drilling operations.
- 1987-1999: I worked as a Senior Geologist in integrated regional projects, basin evaluations and prospect identification in the western algerian basins.
- 1999 – 2004: I was appointed as coordinator for Partnership (Associations) in charge of the promotion (data room organisation) and follow-up the activities of foreign partners of Sonatrach, Algeria.
2005-2006: Project Manager within Numhyd Company. (Oil Company owned by
Sonatrach and Etap). Where I was concerned with Exploration-Production
Projects in Tunisia, Egypt and Nigeria.
- 2006 -2009: I worked as senior petroleum geologist to evaluate the gas resources of the Berkine & Reggane basins and to identify potential areas for exploring the deep Palaeozoic gas prospects.
- 2009-actual: Shale gas project leader: I have focused attention on this type of unconventional reservoir in Algerian basins (Ahnet, Illizi & Berkine) where it has historically been successfully in conventional play. He planned a dedicated data acquisition (logs and core) strategy: New wells drilled (conventional sandstone reservoirs) have been used to characterize the Silurian and Frasnian hot shale, with the specific aim of characterizing the shale gas reservoir.
Also, I have attended to international and national conventions and conferences. I have presented a varied spectrum of oral and poster paper, technical exhibits and post conference field trips. These contributions were focused on exploration activities in Algeria.
