  • International Financial Data Services - Junior business Analyst / Analyste d'affaire Junior

    2011 - 2011 Ireland – Junior Business analyst (5 months)

During my internship in Ireland one of the hugest tasks was to perform a deep business analysis of the State street Ireland’s transactions in 2010. This means that I had to analyse the activity and the workflow of all the funds registered in our agency to present it and to make recommendations. In light of this I had to build up a database which could integrate all the information extracted from the software of the company, link all these information to create a database capable to fuel my analysis.
I was in charge of various enhancement projects of the middleware of State Street bank (MQ, IBM middleware). This part of the job was more linked to the position of my manager in the Project team. Indeed, I had to analyse a situation or a query of enhancement ordered by a client and to manage the project entirely. Managing a project means creating a schedule with deadlines of each part of the project, analysing the issue or the enhancement to do, communicating with the development team in India to explain them the various steps to follow and finally carrying out the testing and to implement the enhancement for real.
This experience teaches me a lot in terms of Fund industry knowledge and in terms of personal skills. As I have been fully responsible of my tasks I learned how to manage a project; how to better communicate within the team, with teams from others departments and also directly with the client. As I had a lot to do I learned also to identify the highest priority and to manage my stress when we have to deal with short deadlines.

 Deep business analysis of the State street Ireland’s transactions in 2010
 Management of various enhancement projects of the middleware of State Street bank (MQ, IBM middleware)
 Execution and documentation of the new implementations’ testing
  • International Financial Data Services - Junior business Analyst / Analyste d'affaire Junior

    2010 - 2010 Luxembourg – Junior Business analyst (6 months)
The most important part of my training focused on testing SWIFT connections and the workflow related to it. I thus learnt how to initiate SWIFT connectivity with a client and how to perform and complete a SWIFT testing. Thanks to this training I have learnt how the SWIFT connection works between the client and the transfer agency encompassing knowledge about various software such as MQSI and IFAST.
Of course, I have also learnt to understand the format of Dealing and Statement SWIFT message.
On a daily basis, I was in charge of implementing SWIFT connection with all the new clients won during funds migrations. These SWIFT connexions are used to automate the sending of subscription and redemption orders. This work required some really good technical skills level to fully understand the process and to fix the issue during the testing as quickly as possible. It was also a work that involves communication skills as I worked directly with the client in order explain to him the way the process works and to perform the test with him.
During the event of the migration of a fund (means that the fund changes of transfer agency) I took part in the numerous reconciliation steps we needed to organize in order to check if all the data was matching. This experience enabled me to have a good overview of the different steps we need to go through.
Besides, I had to perform several little business analysis on the funds workflow which have been really appreciated by my manager.

 Initiation and implementation of SWIFT connection
 Doing reconciliation for funds conversion
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Mise en place de connexions SWIFT
 Réalisation des réconciliations pour les conversions de fonds
  • EDF - Intern Project officer / Stagiaire chargé de projet

 Implementation and deployment of the time schedule software (Invision)
 Test and troubleshooting software issues
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Mise en place et déploiement du logiciel dans les centres EDF
 Test et hotline du logiciel pour les centres de l’Est de la France
  • State Street bank luxembourg - Accountant in fund investment / Comptable de fond

    2008 - 2008 Luxembourg – Accountant in fund investment (5 months)

I had already done an internship in retail banking but this internship was the first in the investment banking. It was also the first time for me that I had to work in an English environment.
First of all I was trained for one month by an employee in order to understand the overall process. This means understand how to perform each step of the calculation of the value of the funds and also why.
Thus, my work was to calculate on a daily basis the NAV (Net Asset Value) for several funds and to complete the daily funds report related to this task. I learnt a lot about the fund industry and I got good skills in Bloomberg.
At the end of the internship I was in charge of training a new employee to calculate the NAV of a fund.
Even though the job was relatively poor in terms of communication and team spirit, thanks to this experience I got started in the investment banking.
