Simon is an Urban Planner who believes in using his planning and design skills to empower people to be autonomous and self-reliant. He is convinced that cycling contributes to a decent, sustainable and enjoyable existence. Additionally, he believes cycling creates equity and a sense of belonging. He believes that successful public spaces are created through public participation. Simon has experience fostering participative processes and developing training sessions for people at-risk, which he gained through previous work designing urban gardens.
At Mobycon, Simon creates cycling policies and designs for all street users. He develops and organises educational experiences, like study tours and workshops, which target people who want to learn from the successes and failures of the Dutch cycling tradition. Simon is skilled at working with all stakeholders, including street users and inhabitants to develop concrete solutions that are sustainable because they provoke behaviour change.
Last year, Simon cycled across Europe and realized that few people have the luxury or opportunity to cycle. Being far from home, he came to the conclusion that cycling is economical, practical and pleasant. These travels strengthened his determination to work developing solutions that increase cycling modal share. In short, Simon aspires to make the city livelier for all.
