Entreprises

  • Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology - PhD student

2012 - 2018 Doctoral Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB)
PhD project: The role of P2 receptors in the migration of medial ganglionic eminence-derived interneurons

    - Implemented an "ex vivo" 3D model based on explant cultures of an embryonic progenitor region to analyze neuronal migration.

    - Pharmacologically identified and characterized novel roles of the purinergic system in the realm of interneuron migration.

    - Examined their biological role in neuronal migration-related cellular and molecular mechanisms by combining pharmacological, biochemical and morphological studies.

    - Acquired experience in different "in vitro" models of cell culture (primary cultures, organotypic slice cultures, 2D and 3D cultures, cell lines); immunofluorescence; Western blotting; microscopy (confocal, fluorescence, transmission); live cell imaging; calcium imaging; bacteria transformation; DNA/RNA manipulation/purification; transfection techniques; shRNA technology; animal handling and manipulation; image analysis and quantification.

    - Followed and supervised undergraduate students during their research projects
  • Institute of Biomedical Engineering - Research assistant

    2011 - 2012
  • Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Porto - MSc student

2010 - 2011 Thesis: Relevance of neuropeptide Y system in angiogenesis and innervation interactions: establishment of endothelial and neuronal cells coculture
  • Veterinary Sciences Department, UTAD, Portugal - BSc student (intern)

2008 - 2009 Scientific project: to study the effect of green tea on urothelial lesions induced by a carcinogen (BBN) in mice.

    - Learned animal handling and maintenance.

    - Examined and evaluated the biological significance of the study combining pharmacological, biochemical and morphological studies.

    - Collected, analysed and quantified data.
