Rio Tinto Procurement is responsible for procurement activities on behalf of Rio Tinto Group operations throughout the world, ranging from strategic and global sourcing of critical inputs to transactional procurement of more readily available goods and services, and includes management of in-bound supply chain logistics and warehousing at numerous sites. Procurement controls a contestable spend of over $14 billion per annum, with over 1500 personnel.
I am solely responsible for providing commercially focused legal support and input into Rio Tinto Procurement EMEA initiatives and projects. The role involves preparing, reviewing, drafting and negotiating various high level, high value commercial contracts and advising on a range of legal issues on a day-to-day basis. Moreover I conduct regular legal training for management and staff, particularly in respect of the unique requirements of Rio Tinto Procurement EMEA Region.
