  • Orange - Digital Home Research Program Director

    Paris 2012 - maintenant Lead the research strategy on Digital Home, one of the 12 research domains of Orange Labs. With Business units and the Technocenter, seize the opportunity for Orange and the ecosystem to share a common infrastructure and pave the way for a future Smart Home application store to emerge, make Orange become a digital coach for all clients, support the most promising network technologies, study new Home services with partners. Build a consistent ecosystem strategy with industrial and academic partners, manage research budget and project teams of about 60 full-time engineers in several locations.
  • Orange - M2M Research Program Director

    Paris 2009 - 2012 Define the research strategy and lead the research program for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications and services in France Telecom Group. Close collaboration with strategic marketing to maximize the success of the research program and reduce time-to-market. Manage research budget and project teams of about 30 full-time engineers in several locations.

    Some achievements
    - Built Open the Box project with 8 other French partners to address Smart Home challenges
    - Defined a standardization program for Orange Labs at the OSGi Alliance, related to contributions to Home Gateway initiative
    - Successfully supported the launch of m2ocity joint venture between Veolia and Orange for Water Metering and Smart City services
    - Launched Research activities on Smart Grids
  • UPnP Forum - Device Management Working Committee Co-Chairman

    2007 - 2009 UPnP DM working committee has been created in 2007 by Andre Bottaro, Orange, and Jooyeol Lee, SamSung, and involved the work of about 20 companies. UPnP Device Management (UPnP DM) protocols provide a common solution through defining standard management actions and data models, which can be implemented in Home devices running different execution environments.

    UPnP DM Software Management Service concepts have been taken as a reference for Software Modularity Management in BroadBand Forum TR-069 and TR-157 protocols widely adopted in Telecom Industry. UPnP DM Basic Management Service is being included in future DLNA CVP2 specifications for diagnostics.
