Blagnac 2013 - maintenantThe objective of this internship is to improve the modelling of the fan trailing-edge noise, a broadband noise source which is generally dominant at high frequency. Within the Propulsion Turbomachinery noise group, I have to implement an existing analytical model in a Matlab code, analyse sensitivity to input parameters and assess it by comparison with existing experimental data and a prediction model developed for open-rotor engine.

Bracknell2012 - 2012During this internship I used sound pressure measurements from a turbofan intake duct at a frequency corresponding to a specific engine order tone, and from these data I determined the modes propagating in each direction at that section of the intake.
This internship was performed using by CAA (Computational AeroAcoustics) software ACTRAN-TM, developed by Free Field Technologies (FFT) in Belgium, Microsoft Excel and a shell code PHOENIX.
I developed a method for doing this initially by setting up a known modal content in an ACTRAN-TM simulation and then recovering modal amplitudes from the simulated data.
The work involved running ACTRAN TM to generate data, developing a code to extract modal amplitudes from simulated sound pressure readings, and finally applying the method to real data.
