ANIS LASSOUED


Anis LASSOUED is a Tunisian director, born in Nabeul, Tunisia, in 1972.

In 1998, he obtained his director's diploma from the Maghreb institute of Cinema “Institut Maghrébin de Cinéma” in Tunisia and directed a short film of fiction, for his final year project, titled “The Puzzle” (10 min).
After getting his diploma leading to university entrance qualification, he took part in various international internships such as training in script writing and actors’ direction. He also pursued a training program in documentary, script writing and directing at the prestigious Institute FEMIS, in Paris, France. After which he directed a short documentary titled “The Pendulum” (10 min).
He was 1st assistant and casting director manager of production of several Tunisian as foreign movies.

Anis didn’t miss the opportunity to learn and apply his deep technical knowledge to what he has been trying to produce so far. In 2003, he realized his first documentary movie, " The Dolls of sugar of Nabeul " (34 min), produced by Amilcar Films, who had a success in numerous festivals, of which “The Best Idea” Award in Anasy-Abu Dhabi (2008).

From January, 2003 till December, 2005, he pursues researches in the University of Tor Vergata to Rome and realized three documentaries on the common traditions between the region of the North of Tunisia (Cap Bon) and the one of the South of Italy (Sicily).

In 2006, his first fiction “Saba Flouss” (Magic Harvest), 18 min, 35 mm, produced by Amilcar Films, was appreciated by both of the public and by the criticism in diverse festivals. He obtained several prices with prestigious international festivals among which THE HADRUMETE OF GOLD in the FIFEJ, Tunisia (2006), the MUHR AWARD in the DIFF, the Dubai, UAE (2006), CAIRO OF GOLD to the Festival of Cairo, Egypt (2007) and GOLD KAZOOS to the festival of Michigan, the USA (2007).

During the same year, he realized “The Balloon” (26 min), a documentary shot in Japan for the NHK channel.

Since 2005, Anis became the founder of the Association “Film enthusiasts of Nabeul” and since July 2006 the founder and the artistic director of the "Maghrebian Film Festival of Nabeul".

In September, 2007, he shot his documentary “Kairouan on 1428” (52 min) for the “Aljazeera Documentary” channel.

In 2009, he shot the documentary “A summer in Sidi Bouzekri”, produced by the “Aljazeera Children” channel.

In 2010, he shot three documentaries on the villages children for the Aljazeera Children channel: “Girl-boy” (28 min), shot in “Yemen”, “Tomorrow … Boutheina” (52 min), shot in Algeria and “Yacoub the child of the sea” (28 min), shot in Mauritania.

In March 2012, he finished his 1st feature documentary film “Al mouâridh” (The Opponent) (78 min), which deals with the events of the Tunisian Revolution of January 14, 2011.

His second fiction, produced by Rives Productions, "Sabbat El Aïd" (My shoes), 30 min, 35 mm, is expected for September, 2012.
