2012 - 2012• Development of a new domino synthetic route for chalcone, via original palladium-catalyzed coupling of phenyldiazonium tetrafluoroborate with styrene in the presence of carbon monoxide.
• Approach inspired mainly by a combination of the well-known Heck-Matsuda reaction with the carbonylative Heck reaction, and consisting in a progressive optimization of the carbonylative coupling conditions.
• Since chalcones display several interesting properties and biological activities, this project will have to propose a “greener” approach for their synthesis, under milder reaction conditions.

2009 - 2010• Extraction, isolation and purification of secondary metabolites from medicinal plants.
• Structural elucidation of those compounds (isolated through TLC and CC) by means of modern spectroscopic methods (Mass Spectroscopy, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, DEPT, COSY, HMBC and HSQC) and by comparison of their spectroscopic data with those reported in the literature.
• Evaluation of both the chemical and biological activities of the concerned products with a view to a possible pharmaceutical outcome.
