  • CEA Saclay - PhD

Gif-sur-Yvette 2013 - 2017 Dissertation title: Interactions between nuclear and variable renewable energies in the French energy transition: adapting the power mix towards more flexibility.

    - Analysis of the operational impact of integrating variable renewable energies (wind and solar) on the operation of the French nuclear fleet.
    - Development of a techno-economic approach to assess the nuclear cost of flexibility in the energy transition period and finding ways of adapting it to make nuclear competitive, even when operating in a load-following mode.
    - Prospective market analysis to evaluate the potential of low-carbon hydrogen growth thanks to excess nuclear energy with the aim of developing hybrid energy systems. It has been proven that there are potential complementarities between nuclear and variable renewable energies due to the growth of new applications, thus decarbonising other energy sectors such as industry and mobility.
