After a PhD in Organic Chemistry at University Louis Pasteur I worked on natural product total synthesis during my postdoctoral fellowship at Carleton University Ottawa Canada.
I joined Rhone Poulenc Santé in the mid 80's as a medicinal chemist at the research center near Paris, and worked on several therapeutic projects as well as on novel chemistries to expand the molecular diversity of the corporate compound repository.
Having always been very interested in rational design I rapidly joined the molecular modeling department that was created at the time I joined the company.
Rhone Poulenc Santé became Rhone Poulenc Rorer and after many years as an expert in modeling, I shifted more and more towards chemoinformatics with the advent of high throughput technologies in screening and combinatorial/parallel synthesis in the early/mid 90's.
Rhone Poulenc Rorer became Aventis with the merger with Hoechst, and I joined the Lead Generation gobal department to develop the ChemoInformatics department at the Paris Research Center.
With the take-over of Aventis by Sanofi my activities in drug design activities included both chemoinformatics and molecular modeling domains.
Finally, thanks to my previous activities and interests, I anticipated the need to deal with more and more data from various sources (basic research, preclinical, clinical, pharmacovigilance, medical, epidemiological, social), naturally I shifted to data and information management.
Very recently I left sanofi aventis R&D and joined the "Societe de Chimie Therapeutique" (french federation of medicinal chemistry) as BioTech Networking Officer.
