After getting a postgraduate law degree and a master of business administration, I worked for a few years at a small private equity firm before joining Theolia, the first independent renewable energy company listed on the stock exchange. Initially in charge of general corporate matters, I quickly became responsible for legal aspects of acquisitions, divestitures, project financings and other stuff requiring the involvement of a person with legal skills.
Four years and a few months later, I joined the legal department of Dassault Systèmes, the world leader of PLM software solutions, where I am still serving as senior in-house lawyer in charge of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and venture capital investments.
Working for many years at public companies operating in high-growth industries has given me the opportunity to acquire plenty of transactional experience, to build a successful track record of over 70 domestic and cross-border deals involving both private and public entities in various jurisdictions (incl. US, UK and other common law jurisdictions), and to receive a lot of tombstones and other ugly deal toys to prove the aforementioned.
In my free time, I am a mountaineer and I act as a volunteer instructor at the French Alpine Club. I climbed a fair number of summits in the Alps, but I also ran the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert, hiked the Laugavegur trail in Iceland and the King's trail in Lappland, did skiing in Russia and various other nice but completely useless things. I have even studied classical music at the Conservatoire, but that was before I turn to electric guitar in a vain effort to establish myself as a rock star.
I adopted a "no tie" policy a few years ago, but will be happy to reconsider my position if science comes to prove that wearing a tie would make me a better lawyer or manager.
