Götz Göppert has been a photographer for nearly 20 years, but began shooting landscapes 10 years ago after discovering the natural beauty of the Scottish Highlands. Since then he has been traveling the world and experimenting with different formats to find the best way to capture panoramic images. (For those interested in the technical details: after trying out many different cameras, Götz settled on a Linhof 617 and a Fotoman 624, both highly sophisticated medium format cameras and both with extremely good lenses.)
While living in New York in 2006-2007, Götz's work was recognized and he received his first commissions. After moving back to Paris at the start of 2008 he had his first major exhibition of panoramic images at "Galerie 105", a well-known and respected showcase for young artists and photographers. Later that year after returning from a trip to Libya, Götz was introduced to Jean-Luc Monterosso from the Maison Européen de la Photographie. Monterosso loved Götz's images from the Libyan Sahara and asked him to do a series of landscapes for the museum. This was the genesis of "Four Seasons in Paris". The inspiration for the series came from driving through Paris, mostly very early in the morning to catch the soft light and atmosphere of dawn in the city. The winter photographs were helped by unusually heavy snow in the French capital - a rare occurance. Conversely, the summer shot was hampered by unseasonably bad weather and lots of rain.
Götz is now working on panoramic projects - both personal and commissioned - all over the world. He has also opened his own showroom and office in Paris ( Gallery Superflu, 26 rue Saintonge, 75003 Paris,Array) where he is displaying and selling his work.
Besides all this Götz works for commercial clients taking a lot of portraits and advertising images for clients like Nivea, Elbeo, Axa, Peugeot, Jean d'Estree, Bebe, Dove, ZDF, Fissan, Nur Die, Stern, Freundin, Joy, Braun, Pfizer and many others.
