Chatou2012 - 2013Worked in a US FDA and EMEA approved GMP plant for commercial API production as process engineer
• Work area: Upstream, recovery and hydrogenation process
• APIs worked on: statins, antibiotics (mycins and echinocandins), immune-suppressants (limuses)
• Project-1: Solved the process problem for decrease in yield of statins in production scale fermenter and large scale L-L extractor. Experimented, validated and implemented the downstream process change as per FDA rules and recommended a prospective fermentation process change
• Project-2: Optimised the process of resin-based antibiotic production in plant scale, on the basis of resin required per batch, resin recovery and resin regeneration. Did a successful scale-up of resin regeneration from lab to 15kL scale
• Project-3: Involved in feed optimization of two fed batch processes using multivariate analysis
• Other short projects: Made a (0-50 log hour) calibration model for in-process substrate monitoring, scale-up of two products in fermentation and one product in recovery, involved in cost reduction, PAT, QbD and six sigma analysis projects
Delft2014 - 2016Professional Doctorate in Engineering
Professional doctorate in bioprocess design is a two year course specially programmed for industry-academia interaction. First year comprises of mandatory courses on mathematical modelling, fermentation and downstream process design. Second year comprises of individual design project, typically with a company.
Worked in the downstream processing laboratory of IIT Delhi with focus on various pressure driven membrane separation modules.
- Ultrafiltration flat sheet modules (Rayflow X-100)
- Nanofiltration spiral wound (Lab-designed and assembled by Nishotech) modules
- Nanofiltration Low pressure flat sheet modules
- GE-Cepa II flat sheet modules
• Part 1: Quantitatively characterised the microbial kinetics and cellulase extracted from gut bacteria
• Part 2: A two step fermentation process was based on above culture for production of ethanol from simulated and industrial lignocellulosic wastes (CMC, microcrystalline cellulose and bagasse)
