  • Alliance Française de Toronto, Canada - Campus Manager & Director of Education

    2006 - 2012 Retained by this non-profit French Language training institute and cultural centre - the largest of its kind in Canada - to oversee business administration and development for the North York campus.

    - Assumed responsibility for finances, staffing, scheduling, marketing, business development, and day-to-day operations in a campus that provides multi-level language training to 1500+ students yearly. Stepped up to the challenge of broadening the school’s market reach and enrollment levels in order to bring fiscal stability to a campus that was at risk of closure, increasing instructional hours sold by 60%+ over 5 years. Record-sale of 80,000 instructional hours in 2011.

    - Provided direction and leadership to a team of 30+ teaching and administrative staff.

    - Refocused marketing strategies for specialized educational initiatives such as the summer camp, resulting in a 100% increase in enrollment and a 60% improvement in profitability.

    - Wrote the copy and translated most of the school's marketing communications materials (print ads, brochures, flyers, email blasts, etc.) and web content from English to French and/or French to English; coordinated collaboration with designers and media agencies.

    - Oversaw the design and development of a wide range of programs to meet the needs of students from children to senior professionals, whose fluency levels range from absolute beginner to advanced.
    Developed formative and summative assessment tools to gauge students’ learning requirements and evaluate their progress in the courses.

    - Pursued and secured new contracts with corporate and government agencies for language training programs to their employees.

    - Collaborated with the cultural department to launch the institute’s first series of cultural activities on the northern campus, including movie soirées, art exhibitions, and specific events such as Haitian Night and Quiz night.

    2003 - 2006 Joined this French-American cultural centre and language training institute to manage educational and cultural programming for 900+ students and members.

    - Built strategic alliances with educational institutes and boards of education to offer professional development training to their elementary and high school French teachers.

    - Worked with the Executive Director to plan diverse cultural programming through partnerships with universities and museums, featuring events such as sponsored lectures, concerts, movies and exhibits.

    - Utilized a student-focused customer care strategy that provided personalized service from initial contact and placement testing to end-of-program follow up.

    - Introduced a dynamic new pedagogical approach to language training at all levels, which emphasized oral and written communication through task-based activities.

    - Empowered a team of 15 instructors with coaching, training and classroom resources to support the implementation of the new teaching strategies in their lesson plans.

    2001 - 2003 Engaged to collaborate on the promotion of French language and culture in the southern US states.

    - Built an extensive network of 500+ contacts among French educators and language teaching associations across five states, creating an important foundation for French-American educational cooperation in the region.

    - Facilitated the development and delivery of education resources and workshops for French Teachers in the region, earning awards from the American Association of Teachers of French in Georgia and Alabama for contributions to French language education in their states.

    - Advised American students on educational opportunities in France.

    - Coordinated southern US university lecture tours for renowned authors from France.

    - Spearheaded the French Book Fair as part of an annual cultural festival in Atlanta to celebrate the French-speaking world.
