2005 - maintenantThe project permitted to change formaldehyde based disinfectant used throughout the company before the use of formaldehyde became prohibited. The objective was to find a product as effective as formol, but non-toxic, by the end of the project following the set deadline. I had to choose between hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid via assays that recreate conditions for disinfection in an airlock of the most resistant viruses used for vaccines. I set up a first generation of assays by changing different parameters including the humidity rate, disinfectant concentration and the nature of the sample (dry, liquid, accessible, protected).
After several statistical analyses, a new generation of assays was initiated in a real laboratory to test other micro organisms towards completion of the study and to adapt the parameters for disinfection useful to all the laboratories in the company.
