Malik Adouane—Diamond Album with Shaft (2 Million copies sold), 23 albums and 161 between 1987 and 2011—is the inheritor of two cultures. He is Algerian Saharan Sufi from his fathers side and Celt gypsie from his mothers. This double cultural aspect is the foundation of the originality of his music. His roots are Electric World, Soul, Groove, House, Dance and above all Raï. On stage, all these mixtures are transformed into Trance, as Malik is before all else a Master of Ceremonies. He eventually went on to charm Parisian clubbers with a unique fusion of his Saharan roots and club sounds, resulting in an explosive mix of House, Oriental Trance and traditional Arabic Raï music. Author of an Arabic version of Isaac Hayes classic Shaft, which appeared on the very first Buddha Bar compilation, Malik Adouane has since performed to sell-out crowds in clubbing capitals such as Los Angeles, Ibiza, Goa, Tokyo, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, London, Cairo, Montreal and has become a cult darling of club DJs worldwide. Artist Producer Malik Adouane is the co/author of the sound-track of Alphonso Cuarons movie Harry Potter: The Children of Men released by Universal in 2006.
