BIOGRAPHY:
Economic Geologist and Metallogist Expert
After completing his doctoral studies (i.e. PHD) in mining geology, Mr. Billa joined the BRGM in 1981 where he has worked both in France and abroad (Saudi Arabia and Africa).
He was in charge of assessment and exploration program, his work led to the discovery of the Angovia gold deposit in the Ivory Coast.
In 1990 he followed postgraduate MBA courses in IAE Toulouse (France).
From 1991 he was in charge of mining exploration works in the Armorican Massif (Vendée & French Brittany)
In 1995 he became an ore-deposit specialist with the Metallogeny and Geodynamics Department of the Research Division specialized in the assessment of the metalliferous potential of Proterozoic basement in Western Africa (“Birimian Team”). He also has been called upon as an ore deposit expert on several Geological et Mineral Resources mapping programs. In connection with these works he has studied and visited most of the major deposits in Western Africa.
He has particated to the Africa GIS program, and to a number of continental scale Geologic and Metallogenic GIS (Andes, French Guyane, Europe, Western Tethys), and to Metal endowment studies at continental scale.
From September 2015, he acts as an independent consultant.
