En résumé

Most of the corporates are now involved in the mondial market, which means that at any level, some employees are or have a chance to be in touch with a foreigner.

For them, the challenge is to understood, and to be understood by the others. But this not a simple problem of ruling a language, it goes further than that. It’s has to do with linguistic, psychology, anthropology, history and religion.

On the field, the consequence of culture’s misunderstanding may turn from an uncomfortable situation to a business disaster. And it is quite impossible to learn the specification of each culture.

Fortunately, after 50 years of research, formalized in their own discipline by famous scholars as M.Weber, Ed.Hall, G.Hofstede, Ph d’Iribarne, M. Crozier or E.Todd, a general pattern of behaviour may be designed in the field of intercultural studies.

And here is my position, absolutely apart from seminars for expats who prepare to live and work in a foreign country; I propose a set of lessons about intercultural relations articulated in 3 parts.

• The first one is a multi-field discipline approach, a practical and general pattern of behaviour where each particular conduct is related to a concept , for example silent, punctuality, one subject meeting agenda, forbidden words such as “no «and etiquette...

• The next two are related to Sun Tzu quotation: “If you know others and know yourself, you will not be imperilled in a hundred battles; if you do not know others but know yourself, you win one and lose one; if you do not know others and do not know yourself, you will be imperilled in every single battle”.
o The second part will be a survey of French cultural behaviour. How do we act, and how foreigners consider us.

o The third part will be a critical analysis of the most different types of cultural relations in the different continents, or a particular country if specifically requested.

The goal of this formation is double for the listener:

• Designing his own behaviour from a checklist of concepts and related comportments without needing to know a particular culture or adapt a sub culture or unknown culture.

• Ability to observe before acting, and to deliver an answer in a particular context, which could be an exception of the attempting behaviour of the partner.

An optimized intercultural relation between members of a working group will improve drastically the economic performance of the system.
