  • FAO: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - Consultant/Engineer

2014 - 2014 Project: In the last years, FAO successfully carried out project activities on the use of wastewater in forestry and agroforestry systems in the countries Egypt, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia (GCP/RAB/013/ITA, http://www.fao.org/forestry/tww/en/). Core partner institutions have been for example the Italian Universities of Tuscia and Basilicata. Last year, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) contacted the project partners from the GCP/RAB/013/ITA project. The International Water Management Institute (IWMI, http://www.iwmi.cgiar.org/) is leading the CGIAR Research Programme on Water Land and Ecosystems with a strong component on the treatment and use of wastewater. IWMI finances the University of Tuscia, the University of Basilicata and FAO to carry out a study on the economics of wastewater use. In this study we assessed 6 waste water reuse sites in Egypt (3), Tunisia (2) and Algeria (1).
    Mission:
    - Identify two wastewater treatment and reuse sites in Tunisia, suitable for the study; - Support the preparation and coordination of the field data assessment, especially establish contacts
and liaise with institutions and operators of the wastewater treatment and reuse sites; - Provide technical and economic expertise on the wastewater reuse sites in Tunisia; - Work on the harmonization of the assessed data for Tunisia and assist the finalization of the report.
  • FAO: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - Consultant/Engineer

2013 - 2013 Project FAO (Italy -Tunisia) on wastewater use in Agroforestry system (GCP/RAB/013/ITA, http://www.fao.org/forestry/tww/en/): - On-site data collection - Design of two irrigation systems operating on demand
    - Design of the modified treatment plant - Feasibility study.
  • FAO: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - Consultant/Engineer

2012 - 2012 Project FAO (Italy -Tunisia) on wastewater use in Agroforestry system (identification of two sites to implement the techniques of fertigation and phytopurification): Identify two suitable wastewater treatment and reuse sites in Tunisia.
  • University of Basilicata - Researcher

2010 - 2013 The main objective of this work was to develop a methodology that addresses the challenge faced by municipalities and other authorities of computing and evaluating the overall performance of water distribution system.
  • International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Studies - Mediterranean Institute of Bari (ITALY) - Expert Engineer

2009 - 2010 Improve the reliability of on-demand pressurized irrigation systems in the Apulia region (Italy). The main target was to find a new method to achieve the best reliability assessment method considering the trade-off between the cost of the network and the hydraulic performance of the system. The final result of this research was judged by an international jury who awarded me the Master of Science diploma with Cum Maxima Laude.
    - Design of three on-demand pressurized irrigation systems; - Develop and assess the reliability of the pressure head at each hydrant and for the whole network
through the new approach; - Find the most reliable scenario in terms of system performance and cost of the network; - Improving of the irrigation efficiency.
  • National Society of Exploitation and Distribution of Water: Department of Environment and Desalinati - Engineer

2008 - 2008 Improving the quality of drinking water in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid (centre of Tunisia) through the desalination of brackish water: Design and management.
    - On site data collection; - Design the reverse osmosis facility to supply the region with potable water - Feasibility study. - Final report
