I am Rafik BOUGACHA a graduated general engineer in Mechanics & Structures from Tunisia Polytechnic School (Ecole Polytechnique de Tunisie). Our formation is multidisciplinary; I acquired wide knowledge about a variety of fields involving computer science, signal processing, finance and management.
I achieved with success my engineering internship at the Chemical Group of Tunisia (Groupe Chimique Tunisien) in which I performed a stability study for the phosphoric acid plant chimney: I focused on the main causes that might cause the collapse of a similar chimney in the same plant involving the resonance phenomenon caused by the Von-Karman vortices. Modal and structural calculations based on beam and cylindrical shell theories were accomplished in order to determine the chimney’s natural frequencies and find out the real cause of its collapse and some applicable solutions for improving the chimney stability were given as anti-vortex impellers and guying sizing and installations. Actually, I achieved my graduation project at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in which I worked on a detailed chemical kinetic modeling for 2-methylbutanol (alcohol/biofuel) as a potentially attractive alternative fuel. I performed shock tube experiments at 20 and 40 bar and at a range of 750-1300°K to measure the ignition delay times over temperature and validate a kinetic mechanism developed for the combustion of 2-methyl-butanol in air.

Actually, I am working as a CAE engineer in a Tunisian design office that is specialized in numerical modeling and finite elements analysis in the automotive field including wide range of activities such as meshing, modeling and numerical calculations: NVH and crash analysis, static and dynamic mechanical studies on complex assemblies in a given vehicle. The remarkable reputation of the design office provided me with motivation and strength to go on improving my skills and my analytical strengths as a general engineer, I have been acquiring strong background in manipulating and employing the most powerful tools in modeling and numerical calculations such as Abaqus, Nastran and Optistruct as well as an outstanding sens of competitiveness through highly graduated mechanical engineers in Tunisia.
