I'm currently a full Professor at Belfort-Montbéliard University of Technology (UTBM) since 2009.
I was previously an Associated Professor since 1998 at UTBM and was also a Research Engineer from 1993, working on various funded multi-million euros projects.
Since 2010, I'm the Head of the Mechanical Engineering and Design Department (423 Engineer students and 38 staff members).
I'm also the Deputy-Director of the IRTES-M3M laboratory “Mechatronics, Methods, Models and Skills”, including five full Professors, eleven Associated- Professors, two invited Professors, four non permanent researchers and sixteen PhD Students.
Over last three years, I have built up a new research team (Advanced Digital Engineering for Integrated Design of Mechanical Systems - INCIS) inside the IRTES-M3M laboratory at UTBM. My research team is focused on the original domain of “High Productive design and engineering methods and tools” applied to transportation and energy issues. As coordinator of INCIS research team, I'm managing 26 researchers, including 5 PhD Students. Concerning my research activity, I have made a well-recognised and sustained contribution to research into “Lean Engineering” applied to vehicle design and manufacturing process including: Collaborative Engineering, Product Lifecycle Management, Design for X (Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing, etc.), Knowledge Based Engineering and advanced CAD modeling. This is exemplified by my research work, at international and national leading levels, in connection with various major industrial companies (General Electric, Eads, Peugeot S.A., Faurecia, Areva, Somfy, Leroy Sommer, etc.) and various academic partners in a French level (Compiègne University of Technology, Arts et Métiers Paristech, Insa Strasbourg, Troyes University of Technology, etc.) and in an international level (Strathclyde Univ. - Scotland, Ecole de Technologie Supérieure – Canada, Ecole Fédérale Polytechnique de Lausanne – Switzerland, University of Nagoya - Japan) in the scope of collaborative projects or common scientific papers.
To date, I have 114 publications in the above areas including: 19 refereed international journal papers, 5 book chapters and 44 refereed international conference papers. I'm also a member of the Design Society and have a research income which is averaged at 300k€ per year since 2006 as the scientific coordinator of four collaborative validated projects for worth 1777k€. I have graduated 5 PhDs since 2010, and I'm also currently supervising 5 PhD students.
Now I'm active in UTBM administration and serves my University as a member on various Research and Academic Committees.
