A Doctor of Pharmacy from the Faculty of Reims (1978), I graduated in embryology and anatomic pathology from the Veterinary School of Toulouse (1985) and obtained a Ph.D. in toxicology from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Paris (1986). After several years in toxicological research at the Centre d’Etudes du Bouchet (1979-1986) (ministry of defence), I joined CIT a first time as a toxicologist and then became Head of the General Toxicology Department.

Recruited by Pierre Fabre Laboratories as Director of the Toxicology Center in Tours in 1995, I was then promoted Director of Toxicology for the Pierre Fabre Group.

I came back at CIT in October 2008 as Director of Toxicology and Operations. I was a member from the management committee.

Recruited by THOR Personal Care as Head of Toxicology in March 2011, I then joined INRS as Director of the Department of Toxicology from January 2012.

I am a “Eurotox Registered Toxicologist”, a member of the Société Française de Toxicologie (SFT) (member of the office), Eurotox, SFTP etc.

    Main Missions :

    • Manage a department of 6 laboratories (70 people) performing research studies in the areas of carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicology, neurotoxicity, immunotoxicity, ototoxicity, toxicokinetics, dermal absorption and biological monitoring. These studies are conducted in the field of risk assessment related to exposure to pollutants in the workplace through two main areas: measurement of toxic effects on experimental systems and the biological monitoring of exposures and outcomes. The main topics of the department are: nanoparticles, mineral fibers, organic solvents, endocrine disrupters, allergens (inhalation and dermal), bisphenol A, mercapturic acids, the herbicides, cytotoxic, chromium, beryllium, multiexpositions, etc..

    • Set strategic orientations of the department.
    • Manage and optimize the department in the scientific, human resources, financial and technical fields.
    • Promote the research activities of the department in the national and European networks
    • Contribute to other activities of the Institute: assistance, training and information.

  • THOR Personal Care - Head of Toxicology

    2011 - 2011 Main missions:

    • Manage the tox evaluation of chemical substances, as they relate to cosmetic raw materials and ingredients.
    • Involvement in preparation of Toxicology dossiers for the company product range
    • Keeping up to date with Global Regulatory Affairs changes and updates and establish how they affect the company product range
    • Report changes and implement updates to ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
    • Liaise with product development to inform about toxicology aspects of new products or residues
    • Awareness of published sources for toxicology data and interpret data comparison results.
    • Network contacts at official bodies like SCCP, Colipa, FDA, Japanese Cosmetic regulations, EFFCI.
    • Provide technical assistance to affiliates and customers as they relate to cosmetic product toxicology dossiers.
    • Assist with Training for employees and company customers
    • Establish relationships at key universities and health authorities.
    • In charge of implications of REACH to the product range
  • CIT Safety and Health Reseach Laboratories - Director of Toxicology and Operations

    Four main missions:

    • to manage toxicology and pharmacology departments, analytical chemistry and DMPK department as well as planification and report production department (210 people; about 800 studies per year )
    • to be responsible for all toxicology studies including mid and long term studies, short term studies, genetic and in vitro studies, local tolerance, ecotoxicology, analytical chemistry and bioanalytic studies.

    Castres 1995 - 2008 Main missions for drug department:

    • perform non clinical safety studies (in house or in CRO)
    • contribute with the clinical department to the design of clinical studies including the choice of starting doses
    • prepare regulatory dossiers (safety): IMPD, IND, NDA…
    • support project teams as scientific expert for toxicology and safety pharmacology from early development towards registration mainly in cardiovascular, CNS and oncology (cytotoxic and monoclonal antibodies) fields
    • advise project team for the development of New Chemical Entities
    • prepare and manage safety data sheet for raw material and formulations
    • contribute to compliance with REACH program and GHS
    • set up a new building for toxicology
