Having obtained my PhD in aquatic biology and ecology from the University of Sherbrooke (Canada) in 2011, I am currently a Research Fellow in marine biology at the School of Marine Studies of the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. For the last 10 years, my work and research have focused on the conservation of species and their habitats in projects from various institutions and locations throughout the world. This included various missions in collaboration with different French and European institutions at the ecological consultancy firm Biotope, which allowed me to promote the sharing of scientific knowledge to preserve biodiversity. My research has included several projects in research institutes using genetic/genomics (e.g. hybridization, connectivity among populations and parentage analysis) and ecological approaches (e.g. mark-recapture), for which I focused/focus on organisms from lacustrine and marine ecosystems. In order to share the importance of preserving the biodiversity to a large audience, I recently organized an exhibition on the threatened marine species as well as a roundtable on the future of sharks in Fiji.
