I invite the visitor to come into painting, which means within sense, through material, images, sounds, and networks.”
The revelation of my painting philosophy came to me accidentally, when the fire destroyed all my paintings. Not having anything left but the fragments of my past works, in my hands and under my eyes, I realized that painting was a strong act, propagating life even beyond its materiality.
Since then, my painting has been made of many steps of creation, stories or fragments of stories overlaying and answering each other according to a harmonic combination of colors, forms and material. These steps, these strata are the memories of the creating acts of the canvas and give it this thickness apparently beyond suspicion. Layer by layer, the story is being told and simultaneously erased, as a palimpsest (handwritten parchment in which the first writing was erased in order to write a new text on it).
The world surrounding us seems to be complex enough to make me think that there couldn’t be any technique able to make us realize it. Unsatisfied by the single isolate « classic » media, I can find an answer to my expectations thanks to the treatment of these different crossed and mixed tools. Some external elements coming from other places, other times, can be added, in order to generate some roads in the memories of the canvas. An arborescence is therefore being created.
An approach that would exclusively be pictorial wouldn’t be able to translate this kind of building and progression.
In the multimedia installations that I propose, the connections between the different places and the spectators/actors do develop something new where the Art is actually taking a universal dimension. » B2Fays
