- Professeur d'anglais
2009 - 2010
During a year, I followed a class of students aged 8 to 12. Part of my contract was to speak English during the whole weekly hour-long lessons, without ever using French. Although they only understood a small percentage of what I was saying, I had to keep the children’s attention to be able to teach them the required words. It felt like a marketing issue to me. I was the company selling a product – here, the English lessons; they were the customers, picking what they enjoyed most and ignoring the rest. Each lesson I prepared was like a marketing plan: what strategies should I use? What do my customers/students like? Are there particular points I should focus on? Should I come up with innovating games to surprise them? In the end, I feel like I managed to achieve my goal, teach them indispensable vocabulary while pleasing them so that the lessons did not feel like a constraint to them.
