En résumé

Jeune docteure en Écologie Marine et Halieutique, je souhaite travailler pour la conservation de la biodiversité marine et la gestion durable des ressources halieutiques.
Pour cela, je souhaiterais notamment contribuer à améliorer la communication entre les différents acteurs de la mer et à sensibiliser le grand public aux problématiques actuelles.

    2016 - maintenant Mon post-doctorat au sein du Département Océanographie et Pêches de l'Université des Azores s'inscrit dans le cadre du projet Européen DiscardLess qui a pour but de réduire les rejets dans les pêcheries européennes. Mon post-doctorat a pour objectifs d'étudier les rejets des pêcheries azoriennes (estimations des rejets et de leurs causes principales, par espèce et par pêcherie) et d'identifier des adaptations d'engins et de stratégies de pêche efficaces pour limiter les captures indésirables et/ou augmenter les chances de survie post-capture.

  • IFREMER - Doctorante

    Issy-les-Moulineaux 2011 - 2014 Mon travail de thèse vise à caractériser de manière détaillée les captures, soit indirectement la pression de pêche, et à lier ses composantes à différents objectifs de gestion. Pour ce faire, ce travail repose sur des analyses statistiques des données collectées à bord des navires de pêche professionnelle. Dans une perspective écologique, des métriques en espèces, tailles et diversité fonctionnelle ont été utilisées pour caractériser la distribution de la diversité de la capture parmi les composantes des communautés marines. Dans une perspective d'exploitation, les fractions rejetées et les raisons de rejet ont été analysés.

  • Scripps Institution of Oceanography - Stagiaire

    2009 - 2009 Mostly independently, worked at doing a global overview on shark fisheries and management:
    - extracted data from FAO databases and reviewed trends in shark catches globally, by country and by species
    - reviewed the status of shark fisheries among 15 national and 8 international fisheries management bodies and contacted managers and shark experts for each of them for confirmation
    - assembled all stock assessments (population dynamics models) for sharks, analysed their results and entered them in a new global fisheries population dynamics database
    - highlighted priority species based on biological vulnerability and market preferences for meat and fins using exports data from FAO.

    Participated in Shark Week at the Birch Aquarium in July 2009, meeting the public and answering their questions regarding sharks.
    Attended the International Marine Conservation Congress in Washington D.C. in May 2009.

  • Undersea Explorer - Stagiaire et biologiste marin

    2008 - 2008 Ø Worked on the habitat ecology of tropical reef sharks in an isolated atoll of the Great Barrier Reef, and particularly scalloped and great hammerhead sharks (Sphyrna lewini and S. mokarran):
    - using Visual Basic, extracted from Undersea Explorer's database of target species underwater sightings of hammerhead sharks and oceanographical parameters associated for the last 10 years
    - analysed favourable conditions for hammerhead sharks to be sighted and to aggregate in large schools.

    PUBLICATION in preparation: Jonathan M Werry, Richard Fitzpatrick, Juerg Zier, Laurence Fauconnet and Charles Lemckert. Habitat ecology of tropical sharks on an isolated oceanic atoll with an emphasis on the grey reef whaler, Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos.

    Ø As part of the crew, worked as marine biologist and volunteer diver crew on eight live aboard dive cruises, giving scientific talks for the general public, managing the target species data collection, participating in diverse researches, including Reef Check, nautilus and sharks trapping, measuring and marking/tagging, management of swimmers’ interactions with Minke whales.
    Participated in shooting of IMAX movie, Under the Sea 2009, in August 2008.
    Participated in shooting of Discovery Channel documentary, Mysteries of Shark Coast, in April 2008.

  • CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research (Cleveland, Australia) - Stagiaire

    2007 - 2008 Worked at studying the impacts of climate change on the abundance and shell shape of 5 species of intertidal gastropods:
    - elaborated and implemented the scientific sampling protocol
    - in collaboration with a co-worker, organized and undertook the sampling field work along a latitudinal gradient (~1500 km) on the East coast of Australia
    - worked in the lab at measuring sampled shells (over 1000 specimens)
    - analysed results using R software and GLM.

    Attended the CSIRO conference « In Hot Water : preparing for climate change in Australia’s coastal and marine systems » in Brisbane in November 2007.
