En résumé

Au sein du laboratoire de Chimie de la Matière Condensée de Paris, J'anime l' équipe de recherche "Matériaux et Biologie" (M&B)

The M&B group wgathers chemists and biologists working together on the design of bio-functional and « living » materials. The disciplinar available expertises are joint to study the integration of specific biological functions (self-organization, molecular recognition, enzymatic activity, cellular metabolism) within polymer, hybrid or inorganic materials with targeted applications in the field of biomedical materials, biotechnological devices and innovative processes for water treatment.

The objectives of the team are to develop strong multidisciplinary projects in material sciences at its interface with biology. Our strategy is based on a combination of fundamental approaches dedicated to the study of mutual interactions between biomolecules, living cells and inorganic materials (in vitro physico-chemical studies of self-assembly processes, mechanisms of bio-controlled formation of nanomaterials, biomimetic approaches of biomineralization, understanding of cell/materials interactions in 2D and 3D environments) and more applied projects for the design of materials in medicine, biotechnology and environment (3D immobilization of biomolecules and cells within inorganic and hybrid materials for the elaboration of biosensors and bioreactors, design of cellularized collagen-based hydrogels for tissue engineering, evaluation of inorganic nanoparticles as pharmaceutical vectors, development of ‘green’ materials for environmental applications.

Themes of Research

• Biomimetic approaches of bone tissue formation for the design of collagen-apatite bone repair materials ,
• Development of a cyto-compatible sol-gel chemistry for biotechnological and biomedical applications ,
• Physico-chemical approaches of interfaces between nano-objects and biosystems,
• Green chemistry of materials and their environmental applications,
• Physical chemistry, processing and biomedical applications of collagen.
