Hi all,
I completed my Master Degree in Cost Controlling in 2011 at the University of Toulouse (IAE) being Head of the class. Then I've started working for AIRBUS Defence & Space (former EADS Astrium) on the Financial BI System as Functional Administrator.
I'm now in charge of the Financial BI System for the division Communication, Intelligence & Security. More than 50 legal entities are embedded through 5 main business lines. The system provides advanced tools for products, business unit, division and consolidation controlling. My job is divided in three activities, the functional administration, the support to users and to the closing processes and the system improvment.
With my two last experiences at AIRBUS Defence & Space, I've worked on two kind of finance model:
- Long Term Business with Satellites ; The operational controlling is focused on "At Completion" figures (IAS 11) with sereval costs reviews.
- Short Term Business with Products & Services ; the analysis is there on the portfolio and yearly performance.
Working on all the financial figures on the BI system, give me the competences to understand the key levers for both business models (impact of Sales variation on EBIT, Workload, headcount, profitability...) and the differences (e.g. full cost method vs production based on hourly rate costing).
The Cost Base analysis is another key axes of controlling that i'm supporting. The aims and the needs are different but linked to the profitability understanding.
I'm also involving in the closing process for legal entities reporting and the consolidation statements.
All that activities give me the possibility the handle the full finance processes (P&L, Balance Sheets, Cost Base, Cost Centre / Project / Product & Services analisys).
My professional experiences are on the financial information system. I do think that finance controlling can't be done without a efficient information system and that there is no information system without strong finance processes.
