  • Sagem - Embedded Systems Engineer

    PARIS 2010 - maintenant My activities in SAGEM are concentrated mainly on supporting application teams in their projects. I assisted them in fixing problems dealing with ST drivers on several platforms such as 7105, 7109 and 7108. I was asked to find solutions for VIDEO, AUDIO and REGIE related problems such as memory crashes, bad colorimetry, picture artefacts, data injection for video driver, clock configuration for output stages and audio/video synchronisation. I also worked on endurance problems such as audio/video loss, video freeze and system crashes.

    I was also asked to implement some hardware tests on INTEL SODAVILLE CE4200 chips for HDMI, REGIE, VIDEO and LMI components. These testbenches are used at the end of STB production step to validate the good behaviour of the whole hardware.

    I have also participated in the integration of DirectFB graphic API in ST 7105 chip. I handled the task of supporting all applicative teams for their DirectFB related problems such as Race Condition, graphic resolution adaptation and memory design.

    I also implemented a tool for system memory inspection in order to track all memory allocation/de-allocation to check for memory corruption.
  • Telnet Holding - Embedded Systems Engineer

    paris 2008 - 2010 I participated in AVDEC project which consists in the design and the implementation of a 4 core decoder based on ST7109 chip. This project is a sub contracting task for a client to Telnet. This project includes hardware design and conception (the main components are 2 FPGAs, one ARM9 processor and 4 st7109 chips) and software design and implementation in compliance to the customer requirements. The whole team is composed of 17 engineers.

    My task in this project was the development of the application software of the st7109 chip and especially for audio decoding: Audio dual decode, down mixing, pass-thru …
    I was also asked to perform an analysis on audio/video synchronization (Lipsync) mainly on clock recovery process in order to provide a synchronization mechanism that satisfies customer’s requirements.

    I implemented the process for ancillary data embedding in VBI of SDI signal. The data include AFD, WSS, Teletext, Close Caption and encoder assistance data such as average QP per picture, picture size and picture encoding mode. The embedding process includes data insertion and synchronization according to Picture Time Stamp (PTS).

    The application software is written in C-language and is running on the ST40 Core of the st7109 chip. The commands are received from the central processor (ARM9). Input data is acquired from an Input FPGA and the output data is transmitted over SPI, SPDIF and DVP.
  • Scientific Atlanta - Ingenieur

    2005 - 2008 Since January 2006:
    Video Quality research engineer at UB-Video Tunisia a filial of Scientific Atlanta a Cisco company. My mission in this company is to develop video algorithms in order to enhance the visual quality of Scientific Atlanta H.264 encoders.
    I participated in many projects:
    • Implementation of a new algorithm for scene change detection in SD/HD encoders.
    • Optimization of hierarchical motion estimation in SD/HD Encoders.
    • Implementation of new high level rate control in SD/HD Encoders.
    I had the opportunity to lead some projects:
    • Evaluation of some H.264 features using JVT software.
    • Re-design of Pre-Analysis subsystem of D9034 H.264 SD Encoder.

    July to December 2005:
    FPGA engineer at UB-Video. My mission was to develop modules in FPGA for Video Encoders. The development of these modules include Design, RTL coding, Synthesis and Place and Route.
