    2008 - 2012 Polymer Chemistry Laboratory
Thesis title: «Design, synthesis and characterization of Janus tectons for self-control of functional three-dimensional molecular assemblies on HOPG»
•Used the concept of 3D building blocks containing two faces connected by rigid bridge (pillar) to put off the plan of the substrate a photoactive compound (chromophore) in order to obtain specific electronic or optoelectronic properties, and to study them by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM).
    •Performed multi-step organic synthesis of pi-conjugated / semiconducting materials
•Investigated the photophysical properties of 3D cyclophane based building blocks in solution
•Worked in an interdisciplinary research environment (including close interaction with physicists)
    •Supervised students in the laboratory
  • Institut Européen de Chimie et Biologie (IECB), Bordeaux, France - Research towards «Master 2» degree in Organic Chemistry

2008 - 2008 Synthesis and Activity of Naturals Systems Laboratory
Thesis title: «Oxidative Biaryl Coupling: Towards the total synthesis of Vescalin»
•Worked on an intramolecular biaryl coupling methodology that could be applied in the construction of a key structural motif in the synthesis of vescalin, a potent inhibitor of topoisomerase II of human DNA (in vitro)
•Investigated the oxidative biaryl coupling by o-chloranil and the electrochemical oxidation
•Synthesized several novel compounds on a range of reaction scales (5mg to 100g)
•Worked in an interdisciplinary research environment (including close interaction with biologists)
