Telma has been the world leader in friction free braking systems based on the physical principle of electromagnetic induction. This company designs, produces and commercialises electromagnetic retarder principally for trucks and buses.
For my final project as a junior engineer, I integrated the R&D department. My mission was to improve the importation of design in Design Modeler and Meshing in ANSYS Workbench to do after a CFD analysis. Since many design will be simulated with the same environment, the tree view has been created logically and structured. An automatization has been done to avoid the opening of Meshing. The mesh is created in background and can be check by external parameters. This work permits to gain one hour of preparation between update and opening of the software.
I did another main study which was to create a numerical model of the retarder. This model is used in order to find, with a modal analysis, the mode shape and afterwards finding the stress with a random vibration. The aim was to compare this numerical results with those obtained with the test bench. The knowledge of the high stress areas allowed me to predict cracks on the product and to do some geometrical improvement.

PEUGEOT SCOOTERS
Peugeot Scooters is a subsidiary of PSA Peugeot Citroën and Mahindra. Mopeds and scooters are designed, produced and commercialised.
For this internship I integrated the R&D department. My first mission as an assistant engineer was an optimization of a cylinder in term of pollution for the new norm EURO 3. It was a 50cm3 2-stroke. First of all I designed it in 3D on CATIA from plans and did a first CFD analysis. I looked how the current line were in the cylinder between the transferts and the exhaust that is to say the filling of the cylinder. After many iterations I found a better model so I made a prototype and real test. Finally the consumption was reduced and the power increased so pollution level was decreased.
The second mission was the implantation of a decompressor in the cylinder head of a 250cm3 4-stroke. I began with a standard cylinder head in which I installed an existing decompressor with some geometrical modification. Afterwards I did electrical measurement on the batteries at ambient temperature and minus 30°C (-22°F) to determine if the electrical consumption to start was reduced. The study was continued after my leaving to use a new technology.

MGI COUTIER Group is a direct supplier to automotive and heavy truck industries, offers world-class expertise in two main areas: Fluid Management and Mechanisms. It global teams are driven, ambitious and focused on developing and implementing quality solutions that are innovative and reliable.
My work was to find explication of a loss of temperature on a steam process, for fuel hoses manufacturing, and suggest solutions of improvement. Thermodynamic study was used to keep or not hypothesis. Adding a vortex flowmeter permit me to know the steam flow coming in the machine to solve mathematical equations.
I also did some researches and realised tests to improve the cleaning process of fuel hoses and characterised a temperature probe.
