I’m Boris Halgand, I’m PhD in molecular virology from Nantes University since October 2012 and I’m currently involved in a post doc.
I’ve done my PhD Studies on hepatitis B virus and the implication of hepatitis B virus on carcinogenesis under the responsability of Pr Cyrille FERAY. The way of investigation was the compartimentation of HBV quasi species in HCC and the possibility of HBV quasispecies replication in tumoral part of the liver. It include patient biopsies recovery, medical data recovery, studies on biopsies by DNA RNA extraction, quantification, amplification, characterization of the samples, functional studies of viral quasipecies and transcriptomics. Technically I had learned many techniques as you could see on my CV. Intellectually I also learned a lot by exchanging with colleagues and collaborators but also by understanding my mistakes, my experiments and myself. This project was a collaborative project with Pasteur Institute of Paris (Dr Buendia and Neuveut) and with INSERM U785 (Pr Brechot and Samuel) in Villejuif and was funded by INCa. As it was new way of investigation in Nantes I had to develop tools for investigation and molecular understanding of hepatitis B
I'm now in charge of estimating the biological effects of marine polysaccharides produced by Ifremer and more particularly their effects on the osteogenic and chondrogenic differentiation on CSM at INSERM U791 as a post doctoral researcher.
