I am an architect-engineer (National Technical University Athens) with a master's degree on urban planning from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées of Paris (2006) and a PhD on geography from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2015). During the past ten years I have worked in architectural firms on touristic development, landscaping, housing, and commercial renovation projects. My curiosity and passion for urban studies brought me in 2007 to Paris where I completed my studies on urban and town planning at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. I have since returned to Greece to work as a scientific expert and urbanist at the Athens' Regional Planning Institut, as well as at the Department of Urban Planning of the Municipality of Athens. I am specialised in public space planning issues, pedestrian practises, soft mobility, urban renovation, and touristic development in historical centres of Europe. In 2011, I have started, financed by a scholarship by the Greek state, my PhD research on urban walking, urban ambiance and public policies of pedestrianisation. I am a member of the UMR 8504 Géographie-cités laboratory of research and since 2014 I teach as a part-time lecturer at the Institute of Research and Higher. Education Studies in Tourism (IREST). I work as a freelance scientific expert collaborating with the Municipality of Paris on public space planning issues and fieldwork techniques. Apart from walking in cities and reading in ancient libraries, my personal interests include travelling the world and searching for local initiatives, actions and ideas that could turn our future metropoles into ethical and attractive places to live in.
